Student Org Websites FAQ

Why are student organization sites moving to the WVU Engage platform?

WVU Engage provides user-friendly editing tools and templates that can be made with student organizations in mind (a place for photo galleries, contact information, events, officers and documents in one place). By using WVU Engage for all student organization websites, the platform will offer a more user-friendly experience, and information will be more accessible and visible.

Will we lose any existing content?

There is a possibility that your existing site has content that the Engage platform does not have a designated place for. However, Engage does offer photo galleries, contact information, officers and events.

How much work will this be for my student organization?

The Engage platform very user-friendly and tailored specifically for Student Organizations, which will minimize the workload during the migration period.

When is the effective date of the transition to the Engage platform?

All current student organization websites should be fully transitioned by Sept. 1, 2025, with the exception of the Mountaineer Maniacs and SGA, which will remain separate.

Can we customize our new site like we were previously able to?

Using the Engage platform will not allow for as much site customization as the previous sites, but the way Engage is set up will make important information and content the focal point of your site and very easy to access.

Will there be other recommendations for website hosting?

Our recommendation is to transition your student organization website to the Engage platform. The goal of the transition is to have an all-encompassing platform for all student organization sites, which will allow for more accessible information and a user-friendly platform for students.

What happens if we choose not to migrate to Engage?

If you choose not to migrate your current student organization website to Engage, you will eventually lose capabilities to update/edit your current site, and the University will no longer be able to support that platform.
